Family Law Mediation

Hourly Mediation

Mediation is a process where both parties agree to settle their dispute with a third-party, neutral mediator. Amica Law has several trained and experienced family mediation lawyers. A mediator will guide them through all elements of a separation including the children, property division, and spousal support. Our mediators are also lawyers and are in the unique position to have a deep understanding of family law in Manitoba while guiding you to a resolution. Family law mediation is an excellent option for most separating couples and allows the potential to reduce costs and to expedite the process. Mediation is extremely effective in both high and low conflict situations.

Family law mediation is charged at an hourly rate. Some separating couples can get through the process in a couple of sessions while others have more complex matters to sort through, taking more time.

At the end of your family law mediation, you will leave with a fully drafted Separation Agreement. The final piece is to have the Agreement reviewed by your own, independent lawyer.

Guided Separation

Guided separations are an opportunity for a separating couple to meet together for a family mediation with a lawyer-mediator for a set number of meetings to settle the terms of an Agreement. We are able to charge this at a flat rate. This is appropriate where a separating couple requires some guidance but are unlikely to have complex issues that require extensive mediation. This process includes up to two, two hour sessions with one of our mediation lawyers and results in a fully drafted Separation Agreement.

Flat Rate Cost: $5,000
