Estate administration is the work of settling a person's affairs after they've passed: paying what's owed, gathering what they had, and getting everything to the people it's meant for. What it costs, and how we charge
Legal fees for probate in Manitoba are set by a court tariff, not by us. The tariff is a percentage of the value of the estate that goes through probate, and the rate steps down as the estate gets larger, so bigger estates pay a smaller share on the upper amounts.
To give you a sense of it, a straightforward estate worth about $500,000 works out to roughly $8,000 in tariff fees. We'll walk you through what it means for your estate before we start, so the cost isn't a surprise. And because Manitoba did away with government probate fees back in 2020, there's no separate provincial fee on top.
Not every estate needs the full process, and you don't have to hand us the whole file either.
